- As part of the Singapore Food Agency (SFA)’s regulatory sampling of mooncakes, it has detected Escherichia coli (E. coli) in Baker’s Cottage’s Snow Skin Signature Yam Mooncake imported from Malaysia by Ewayz Pte Ltd, at levels exceeding the maximum limits stipulated in Singapore’s Food Regulations.
- As a precautionary measure, SFA has directed the importer, Ewayz Pte Ltd, to recall the implicated products. The recall is ongoing.
- E. coli is a bacteria that is normally found in the intestines of people and animals. Foodborne pathogens like E. coli can be introduced during the production process when cross-contamination occurs.
- Consumers who have purchased the implicated products should not consume them. Those who have consumed the implicated products and have concerns about their health should seek medical advice. Consumers can contact their point of purchase for enquiries.
