OUTBREAK OF AFRICAN SWINE FEVER (ASF) IN TAIWAN
Taiwan has reported an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in a pig carcass in Taichung, Taiwan.
2 In view of the outbreak, the National Parks Board/Animal & Veterinary Service (NParks/AVS) has imposed a temporary restriction on the importation of pork and pork products from Taiwan which have not been processed to inactivate the ASF virus, with effect from 25 October 2025. Processed pork products which comply with Article 15.1.23 of the WOAH Terrestrial Animal Health Code for inactivation of ASF virus will not be subjected to restriction.
3 Pork consignments which have not been processed to inactivate the ASF virus, exported from Taiwan before 25 October 2025 and slaughtered before 11 October 2025, will continue to be accepted for import.
4 Please contact SFA should you have any enquiries on the import of pork and its products from Taiwan.
